Muse Malaysia Licenses She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, Sabikui Bisco Anime
Muse Malaysia announced on Tuesday and Wednesday that it has licensed the She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man, Sabikui Bisco, and Saiyuki Reload -ZEROIN- anime. Muse Malaysia will announce distribution details for the anime at a later date.
She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man adapts Hirotsugu Ryusen's Kenja no Deshi o Nanoru Kenja light novel series. The anime will premiere in January 2022.
Nichika Omori will star in the show as the disciple Mira. Keitaro Motonaga (Jormungand both seasons, Date A Live first three seasons) is directing the anime at Studio A-Cat. Takamitsu Kouno (Utawarerumono: The False Faces, Absolute Duo) is overseeing the series scripts, Kumi Horii (LBX Girls, Infinite Stratos 2) is designing the characters, Go Sakabe (Date A Live franchise, Digimon Adventure tri. film series) is composing the music, and Yasunori Ebina is the sound director.
Seven Seas is releasing both the light novel and the manga in English, and it describes the story:
Sakamori Kagami was one of the top players in the VRMMO Ark Earth Online as Danblf, a veteran summoner with the gravitas to match his elite status. When he falls asleep playing one day, he's transported to a world where the game is reality—but instead of his all-powerful avatar, he's stuck in the body of a cute young girl! He can't let anyone know that this little cutie is really Danblf, so he takes the name “Mira” and claims to be Danblf's disciple. If this gets out, he'll never live it down!
Sabikui Bisco adapts the light novel series of the same name by Shinji Cobkubo (Kobukubo). The anime will premiere in January 2022.
The story is set in Japan after a "Rusting Wind" has coroded everything. People live in fear of the rust that corrodes cities and life in general. A boy named Bisco Akaboshi from the despised Mushroom Guardian tribe embarks on a journey to obtain the "Rust-Eating" mushroom — a miracle drug that purifies all rust — to save his dying teacher.
During his journey, Bisco encounters Miro Nekoyanagi, a good-looking young doctor at Imihama, and together they search for a countermeasure against the rust consuming Miro's beloved big sister.
Atsushi Ikariya is directing the anime at OZ with assistant director Daisuke Mataga. Sadayuki Murai is supervising and writing the series scripts. Ai Asari and Ikariya are designing the characters, and Asari and Norie Igawa are serving as chief animation directors. Yi Hui Zhang is also serving as animation director. Takeshi Ueda (AA=) and Hinako Tsubakiyama are composing the music.
Saiyuki Reload -ZEROIN- is the television anime of the "Even a Worm" arc from Kazuya Minekura's Saiyuki Reload manga. The anime will premiere in January 2022.
The anime features a returning cast for the main cast, and new cast members include:
- Kouichi Toochika as Hazel Grouse, a bishop who arrived from the west, and who is critical to the story arc
- Rikiya Koyama as Gatti "Gat" Nenehawk, who works with Hazel
- Houchu Ohtsuka as Ni Jianyi, a Sanzo practitioner with Muten Sutra and a scientist on Gyumaoh's side
LIDEN FILMS is animating the project.
Saiyuki, the original 1997 "fantasy road movie" manga series loosely inspired by the Chinese novel Journey to the West (Saiyuki in Japanese), has spawned the Saiyuki Gaiden and Saiyuki Ibun manga spinoffs. The Saiyuki Reload Blast sequel manga launched in Ichijinsha's Comic Zero Sum in 2009, but Minekura slowed down her publication of the manga in 2013 due to her health. The manga franchise as a whole has 25 million copies in circulation worldwide.
The various manga series also inspired four television anime series, an anime film, three original video anime (OVA) series, and several stage musical productions.
