Funimation Streams 2 More Demon Slayer Recompilation Specials

Funimation announced on Wednesday that it will begin streaming two more Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba television anime specials on Thursday. The two specials are recompilations of the first season's Asakusa and Tsuzumi Mansion arcs with new footage. In addition, the company is streaming the first three recompilations for the Sibling's Bond, Mt. Natagumo, and the Hashira Meeting arcs with updated additional footage.

The five specials aired on five separate nights on Fuji TV in September, with the Asakusa Arc and Tsuzumi Mansion Arc as the newest specials.

Three of the recompilation specials premiered with new footage in October and December 2020 in Japan. The Sibling's Bond special opened in Japanese theaters in a limited screening run in March 2019, one month before the television anime's premiere. Sibling's Bond also aired on Fuji TV in October 2020, with the Mt. Natagumo Arc special airing later that month. The Hashira Meeting Arc special aired in Japan in December 2020.

Funimation streamed the specials in Japanese with English subtitles and with an English dub.

Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga inspired a television anime that premiered in April 2019. Aniplex of America licensed the series and streamed the show on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Funimation. Adult Swim's Toonami programming block premiered the television anime in October 2019.

Funimation and Crunchyroll will both stream the upcoming Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc television anime. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Mugen Train Arc is a seven-episode arc that adapts the film, and it will premiere on October 10. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Entertainment District Arc will then premiere on December 5.

The Demon Slayer – Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train anime film began screening in Japan in October 2020, and it topped the box office in Japan for 12 consecutive weeks. The film became the first film ever to pass the 40 billion yen milestone. The film was the highest-earning film worldwide from 2020. It is the first non-Hollywood or non-American film to top the yearly box office worldwide since the beginning of cinema over a century ago. Crunchyroll and Funimation are streaming the film.

Gotouge launched the manga in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in February 2016. The manga ended in May 2020. Shueisha published the manga's 23rd and final compiled book volume in December 2020. Viz Media published the manga in English.
