Edens Zero Confirms Premiere Date for Netflix Return
A social media post has revealed when the popular new anime series Edens Zero will make its return to Netflix.
According to the show's official Twitter account, the second half of the first season of Edens Zero will begin streaming on Nov. 24. Fans have been quick to share their excitement for the show's return, commenting with a wealth of memes, emojis and quotes from the anime.
The Edens Zero manga by Hiro Mashima -- the creator behind iconic series like Shaman King and Fairy Tail -- was first published in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in June 2018. As of September 2021, it has produced seventeen volumes worth of content. The story follows protagonist Shiki Granbell, a human who lives among robots on Granbell, which is a deserted theme park planet. When two space travelers, Rebecca Bluegarden and her robotic cat companion Happy, arrive on Granbell, Shiki makes the decision to leave his home and travel the galaxy in search of Mother, a fabled goddess of the cosmos.
The first season of Edens Zero was produced by J.C. Staff (Requiem of the Rose King, One-Punch Man) and was the first and only series anime industry veteran Yūji Suzuki directed before passing away on Sept. 9, 2021. Mitsutaka Hirota (The Princes of Tennis, Persona 4: The Animation) oversaw the season's series composition with Yoshihisa Hirano (Death Note, Hunter x Hunter - The Last Mission) composing the music, Yurika Sako (Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?) designing the characters, Yuki Hirose (Cells at Work! Code Black, Zoids Wild) overseeing the cinematography and Masahiro Goto (Digimon Tamers: The Adventurers' Battle, One Piece) handling the editing.
The show's original opening theme, "Eden Through the Rough," was performed by Takanori Nishikawa, with CHiCO with HoneyWorks performing the first ending theme, "Bōken no Vlog." The second opening and ending themes, "Forever" and "Sekai no Himitsu," were performed by L'Arc-en-Ciel and Sayuri respectively.
Edens Zero's cast includes multiple popular and experienced voice actors like Mikako Komatsu (Cased Closed, Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia), Takuma Terashima (Black Clover, Log Horizon: Destruction of the Round Table), Rie Kugimiya (Digimon Adventure, K: Return of Kings), Kikuko Inoue (Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans, Restaurant to Another World) and Daisuke Namikawa (Haikyu!! To The Top, World Trigger).
Currently, there is no word on whether Edens Zero will receive a second season or not; however, Konami has confirmed a video game adaptation of the series.
