Blade Runner: Black Lotus Anime Drops the Series' First Trailer
Adult Swim has revealed the first official trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus, the upcoming CG anime series it is co-producing with Crunchyroll.
Based on the Blade Runner franchise, Black Lotus is set in the year 2032 -- placing it between 1982's original Blade Runner film (which takes place in 2019) and 2017's Blade Runner 2049. The new CG anime series also takes place in the aftermath of the 2017 anime short film Blade Runner Black Out 2022.
Black Lotus follows a mysterious female replicant protagonist, voiced by Arisa Shida in the Japanese version and Iron Fist's Jessica Henwick in the English version. However, despite being a new story with new characters, Blade Runner fans can also expect to see some "familiar" faces pop up.
Blade Runner: Black Lotus was originally announced back in late 2018. While the series still lacks a specific premiere date, it is currently slated to arrive on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll sometime this coming fall. It is animated by Sola Digital Arts, with Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama serving as directors. Black Out director ShinichirÅ Watanabe serves as a creative producer.
